Repair Process

The Break:

In most cases windshield impact damage is caused from rocks or other foreign objects kicked up by other vehicles tires. The impact removes a piece(s) of glass and creates a separation and void in the windshield. Air and contaminates create different refractive indexes and result in silver, black or greenish blemishes like shown below.

    Tips for Interim Care:

    1. Cover the damage as soon as possible with windshield saver or a clear tape to minimize the negative effect of dirt and contaminants on the repair.

    2. Contact Roo's Windshield Repair to schedule your repair appointment as soon as possible.

    3. Until repair is made, avoid washing or cleaning vehicle if possible.

    4. Until repair is made, avoid extreme temperature changes if possible.
Never turn on the defrost on high heat in the winter this could cause damage to spread and become unrepairable.

    The Repair:

    1. A Roo's technician explains what windshield repair is and answers your concerns.

    2. A Roo's technician will inspect and evaluate damage to determine if repair is optimal..

NOTE: If REPAIR is not the safest option, a Roo's technician will inform you of the correct replacement procedures to ensure future windshield safety.

    3. Roo's Technician then removes any loose glass at the impact point using carbide scribes and drill bits.

    4. The damage is prepared with a cleaning agent and remaining moisture is removed from the void.

    5. Once the damage is fully prepped, our technician checks the temperature of the glass to be within optimal repairing parameters. The technician then positions the vacuum cup and bridge assembly and adjusts the injector until it is seated at the desired height and tension.

    6. Next optically matched, structural resin is injected into the damage through the injector and plunger using alternating pressure and vacuum cycles to remove all air. This process is performed until the desired result is achieved.

    7. Now a pit resin is applied to the surface and cured to desired strength using a UV curing lamp.

8. Finally the technician scrapes the excess resin and buffs repair to a high gloss using a glass polish.

    The Result:

    1. The strength of the original factory seal on your windshield is never compromised or broken which is critical for collision safety per the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

    2. The glass damage is stabilized and 100% structural integrity is restored to the windshield.

    3. The optical clarity is 80-90% restored by Roo's Windshield Repair process and in some cases is almost invisible.

Each break is unique and repair results may vary.

    4. Wiper performance is restored.

    Replacement:

Roo's Windshield Repair does not replace windshields. If certified windshield repair is not the safest option by our inspection or you would prefer(despite the potential risks) a new windshield, Roo's will provide you with information to ensure a proper replacement to minimize these risks.
